Over the past couple of days we have been learning about Christmas traditions in Sweden. Mrs Smith is half Swedish and she shared her traditions with us. We made Swedish gingerbread and we learnt about the Patron Saint of Light 'Saint Lucia'. Somebody dressed up as 'Lucia' and we watched a procession and heard the special Swedish song. We then danced and sang to different Swedish songs. We hope you like our pictures. We have had a lot of fun this week.

Thanks to all of the parents who came to the church today. We had a lovely time learning about the meaning of Christmas. We also got to look around the church and see the beautiful decorations. We used Mrs Smith's traditional family recipe to bake delicious traditional gingerbread on Thursday. Yum Yum!
We had a wonderful visit from Mrs King from Rayleigh Baptist Church. She told us a wonderful story about the meaning of Christmas. She also told us how we prepare for Christmas and the meaning of Advent. We really enjoyed her visit. We hope you enjoy our photographs. We had an amazing day yesterday! To help further our understanding of ' People who help us' we had a very special visit. The children learnt all about how Firefighters train and work.
They asked lots of brilliant questions and even got to use the hose! We just wanted to say a massive "Thank you!" to our wonderful PA. They did the most amazing job running such a fantastic Christmas Bazaar. Please enjoy looking at our pictures, but don't look too closely at the presents as we don't want to spoil your surprise! We have had a fabulous afternoon with family members! The children had a choice of four different activities, we will decorate our classrooms for Christmas tomorrow! We are learning all about addition. We are learning what the "+" and "=" sign mean and how to use them. We have written our very first number sentences. We hope you are impressed with our hard work!. Please enjoy our photos. Ladybirds have been doing some subtraction - take a look at these! The blog is having a little trouble and is changing some of our pictures - apologies. We have been learning all about staying safe on the roads. The children watched the 'Stop, Look and Listen' advert and discussed the steps to take when crossing the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAgxZ-l5pY8 We went outside and practiced crossing safely.
Inside the classrooms the children will be drawing their own roads and driving and crossing safely. We would like to say a BIG thank you to the Parent's Association for our wonderful new outdoor xylophone.
We are having lots of fun with it already! |
